This Raw Cold Life

This raw cold life is a beautiful thing. —Mos Def

My name is Shaun and I make paintings, drawings, and poems. My art is a reaction (one of many) to the countless and varied inspirations I encounter. This is an informal collection of such things, too scattered and far-reaching to be condensed into a single label.

Wale - Diary (feat. Marsha Ambrosius)

Queen, you deserve the title / But she rejects what I give / While she nurse the wounds by them

  2. "N***as lettin’ that liquid cocaine get to them…..let’s go then."

     -

Wale, in response to Kid Cudi being an insecure drama queen

(disclosure: I don’t know much about Kid Cudi, just that he’s into the tight-pants-and-coke trend, and that his head looks too big for his body.)

“The Manipulation Pt. 2” - Wale

Them other guys pay they mind to your physical features / And I can admire your body but your mind is much deeper

  4. Listening to this right now (click photo for download link) for the first time and it sounds as good as Mixtape About Nothing and Back to the Feature, which was the mixtape that got me into Wale last summer. I’d heard of him prior to that, but I never checked him out because I thought he was just one of those Kanye/Lupe clones. But I saw 9th Wonder’s name on that mixtape, someone I’ll always listen to, and I ended up really liking Wale. I thought his album was ok, but his mixtapes are on the level where I’ll always go back and listen to them.
One other thing: Wale seems like a real genuine dude because when I saw him, he stayed on the stage signing every single thing people asked him to.
